Second Grade

  1. Students continue with the brain-training program until completed. Ideally students would train at home and the school would supplement as needed during school or an after-school program to ensure sufficient training. It is important to emphasize the at-home training requirement to establish the expectation that families will participate and provide ongoing encouragement and support. However, if students are not training at home adequately, the school must provide sufficient time during school.
  2. Continue reading aloud at home 15-20 minutes daily.
  3. Monitor school reading assessment scores to identify any children who are not at grade level.
  4. If students are not reading at grade level by the end of 2nd grade, complete more extensive assessment to identify causes.
    1. Let’s Go Learn Reading Assessment
    2. Review checklist of other potential factors, including mindset, home life, and possible medical issues.
  5. Require more training under the programs listed in item seven under First Grade.
  6. Begin students on the Let’s Go Learn (LGL) Reading Program if needed. Students train 20-30 minutes daily five days per week during the summer.
  7. If students are behind in math, begin students on the LGL math program to supplement existing instruction.
