READING KINGDOM

Reading Kingdom is a wonderfully engaging, award-winning online program that can help your child learn how to read. Reading Kingdom is unique in it approach to train the foundational skills that empower reading success. It is patented.

We believe that every kindergarten and 1st grade student in our community should complete this program. Students who would not normally struggle with reading will do even better. Students who would likely struggle with reading will catch up and become a proficient reader. Students who complete the program will read at a 3rd grade level. It can also help older students and English Language Learners if they read at a 2nd grade level or are just beginning to learn how to read English.

This program is Internet based and can be done at home, or any where you can find Internet access. Ideally, students would begin the program over the summer between kindergarten and 1st grade. However, they can begin at any time. They can continue into the school year as needed. This can reverse summer brain drain and turn it into summer brain gain. Typically students train at least one session a day, but can do more. Each session is about 15-20 minutes. The program is easy to do. Most students can do it on their own once they get started. Students love doing the program and it requires little attention from parents. However, parents need to monitor and support their child as needed.

If parents would like to strengthen their reading skills, they can sit and watch. In some cases, parents can also do the training with their own account.

We recommend that resourced parents go to the Reading Kingdom site and purchase the program. It is very affordable. If a family cannot afford the program, we are working to secure grants to help make it available to all families. We are currently conducting a research study and are open to more participants. There would be no cost to the parent to participate. We require pre and post reading test results from the normal school testing. Parents should be able to obtain this testing data from their school. We also require that students train consistently and diligently.
