Everyone Welcome
Most communities served by Title 1 schools have fairly high mobility rates which makes it difficult to establish a sense of belonging and a sense of being welcome. It is difficult to connect with more than a few neighbors and to know what resources are available to help.
In the past, more communities had a program called the Welcome Wagon where locals would welcome new neighbors to the neighborhood. Many under-resourced communities never experienced that program. Each participating school village is expected to establish a Welcome Wagon Program to better connect locals and new families.
The Program will seek donations from local businesses to establish benefits for members and to welcome new members with a gift. We will build a social media application to help connect everyone to facilitate communications.
